EBOO: Advanced Ozone-Based Therapy for Recovery, Detoxification, and Wellness

At We The People Health & Wellness Center, we believe true healing starts at the cellular level. EBOO is one of the most advanced ozone-based therapies we offer for patients seeking deeper support for detoxification, oxygenation, immune balance, inflammation support, and overall wellness optimization. Our goal is to make advanced therapies more accessible while still approaching them with the clinical judgment and screening they require.

What Is EBOO?

EBOO stands for Extracorporeal Blood Oxygenation and Ozonation. This therapy uses a specialized external circulation system in which blood is drawn from the body, passed through a treatment circuit, and then returned through a second vein. During treatment, the blood is exposed to ozone and supportive filtration within a closed-loop process designed to help support oxygen metabolism, detoxification, and immune modulation. EBOO as a closed-loop treatment using a dialysis filter together with ozone and UV light, and your current page describes blood being drawn, filtered, treated, and returned through the opposite arm.

Why Patients Consider EBOO

Patients often explore EBOO when they are looking for more advanced support for overall wellness, recovery, and chronic health stressors. Depending on the individual case, EBOO may be considered as part of a broader integrative plan for concerns related to inflammation, fatigue, toxic burden, immune dysregulation, recovery support, and wellness optimization.

Required Screening Before Treatment

EBOO is subject to medical eligibility and provider clearance. Before treatment, patients must complete required screening and any labs our providers determine are necessary. A G6PD blood test is required prior to EBOO. Depending on the patient’s history and clinical picture, additional labs may also be required before scheduling treatment.

You Do Not Need to Be a Long-Term Established Patient

You do not need to be a long-term established patient at We The People Health & Wellness Center to be considered for EBOO. However, every patient must first complete an initial consultation and screening process with our team before treatment can be scheduled. This visit is $50 and can be done on the phone. That consultation allows us to review your current health concerns, medications, allergies, past medical history, goals, and any factors that could make treatment inappropriate or require additional precautions.

Vein Access Is Essential

Because EBOO requires blood to leave and return through the treatment circuit, patients must have adequate vein access, typically meaning two good veins, usually one in each arm. If you have a history of difficult blood draws, collapsing veins, or limited access, our team may need to evaluate whether EBOO is appropriate before moving forward.

If You Are New to Ozone Therapy

If EBOO would be your first ozone-based therapy, our providers may recommend beginning with a more introductory ozone treatment first to assess tolerance and response before advancing to EBOO. That decision depends on your history, sensitivity, and overall care plan.

What to Expect During Treatment

EBOO is performed through a closed-loop treatment system. Blood is drawn from one arm, passes through the treatment circuit, and is then returned through the other arm. Sessions typically last about 45 to 60 minutes, though timing can vary by patient and protocol. Patients should arrive well hydrated and are generally advised to eat a high-protein meal or snack beforehand unless told otherwise by their provider.

Who May Not Be a Candidate

EBOO is not appropriate for every patient. Contraindications and precautions must be reviewed carefully during the screening process. Examples of concerns that may disqualify or delay treatment can include G6PD deficiency, active bleeding tendency, thrombocytopenia, pregnancy, uncontrolled hypertension, porphyria, uncontrolled hyperthyroidism, allergy to heparin, leukemia, or other clinical factors identified by the provider.

A Note About Safety and Individualization

At WTP, EBOO is never treated like a one-size-fits-all wellness fad. Treatment planning, frequency, ozone dosing, and whether a patient should proceed at all are decisions made by the clinical team based on the individual patient’s history, labs, tolerance, and goals.

Lab Tracking and Measuring Progress

We believe healing should be both felt and measured. That is why We The People Health & Wellness Center offers an optional EBOO Lab Tracking Program to help patients monitor key markers over time. Depending on your needs and goals, your provider may recommend tracking markers related to inflammation, immune function, metabolic health, nutritional status, and detoxification or organ function.

How Many Treatments Are Recommended?

The number of treatments recommended is individualized for each patient. Some patients may pursue EBOO as part of a short-term wellness or recovery strategy, while others may discuss a series of treatments as part of a more comprehensive plan. The right schedule depends on the patient’s condition, goals, tolerance, and provider guidance.

EBOO is subject to medical eligibility and provider clearance. All patients must complete an initial consultation, required screening, and a G6PD blood test before treatment. Additional labs may be required. Adequate vein access is necessary. Purchase of an EBOO package does not guarantee eligibility for treatment.

The specific concentration of ozone and blood flow rate used for each individual differ and must be determined by the treating physician.

  • Advantages: Continuous low-dose ozone: Research supports that EBOO Therapy’s continuous low-dose ozone administration enhances oxygen binding to red blood cells, increasing oxygen supply to cells. Personalized treatment: Low-dose ozone allows for precise control, tailoring treatment to individual needs and reducing the risk of ozone toxicity. Safe for various conditions: Even individuals with certain blood disorders, such as thalassemia or G6PD deficiency, can undergo this treatment, although consultation with a specialized physician is required. Additional benefits: The machine’s built-in blood filtration system and red blood cell monitoring enhance treatment efficacy and safety.

  • Considerations: Treatment duration: Sessions typically last 45-60 minutes. Specialized expertise and at WTP we have highly skilled medical professionals to do the procedure. In other centers or med spa's EBOOs are costly, but WTP goal is to make this and all its offerings more affordable to more people.
